Unity game and app development
A whole build, from an empty Unity project to something people can install. I take the parts most teams have to split between a programmer, a technical artist, and whoever ends up owning the build pipeline — which is usually where the schedule goes.
The rate is how an estimate gets built — you aren't buying an hourly meter. Work is scoped into deliverables and milestones at a fixed fee, agreed in writing before anything starts.
What this covers
- Project architecture, conventions, and Unity setup
- Gameplay, app features, and the systems underneath them
- UI, menus, and the states between them
- Art, animation, and audio integration
- Performance work against the hardware it actually has to run on
- Builds, signing, store listings, and getting through review
- Handover documentation, and a session to walk your team through it
People usually come to me with
- You have a concept or a design document and no team to build it.
- You have a team, and it is full.
- You want one person accountable for the whole build rather than a seam between two contractors.
What it usually costs
One platform, nothing added, and priced as minimum viable product on a standard schedule. Complexity, scheduling, extra platforms, and add-ons move it from there — the estimator does all of that live, as you answer.
| Size | Effort | Roughly |
|---|---|---|
Tiny One idea, one screen, one loop. A tip calculator, a Wordle, a Flappy Bird. | 200 hrs 8 weeks | $20,800 – $31,200 |
Small A handful of features that hang together. A habit tracker like Streaks, a to-do app like Things, a match-3 like Candy Crush. | 400 hrs 16 weeks | $41,600 – $62,400 |
Medium Accounts, sync, and either a lot of screens or a campaign's worth of content. Strava, Duolingo, Untitled Goose Game. | 960 hrs 38 weeks and 2 days | $99,850 – $149,750 |
Large A platform, or a full title with real depth to it. Notion, Figma, Hollow Knight. | 2360 hrs 94 weeks and 2 days | $245,450 – $368,150 |
This is a preliminary estimate based on the information provided. Real-time work is sensitive to target hardware and asset quality, so the final quote is confirmed after review and may change if scope changes.
